Sacramento Bee: After two years of tensions, the nine members of the Sacramento City Council did something this month that was both simple and extraordinary: They sat down together for an hour, played nice and talked about the future of the city.
Johnson convened the council workshop – the first of its kind in five years – saying he was hopeful that city residents would see it as a sign that the council would work together.
"We don't want to be perceived as a dysfunctional body," Johnson said. "We don't want to be perceived as a group of people who are out of touch. We don't want to be perceived as a group of people who can't get along and get anything done. If we are, that means the public is not going to have trust in what we do."
