Subject of Interest: Nearly 1 in 4 capital high school students drop out

Published: 1 years 165 days ago

Sacramento Bee:  Almost one in four Sacramento County high school students drop out
before getting their diploma, according to a new state report.

The rate is even higher among African American high school students – more than one in three in Sacramento County schools drop out.

In suburban Placer and El Dorado counties, about one in nine high school students become dropouts; in Yolo County, it's one in six.

Those figures were part of statewide release Tuesday covering the 2009 school year – the third year the state has collected student-level data, but the first it used a new system called CALPADS.
