Mayor upbeat on railyard after meeting new owners

Published: 1 years 193 days ago

Sacramento Bee:  Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson met Tuesday in Illinois with the new
owners of the downtown railyard, saying afterward that their conversation gives him confidence that the Inland American Real Estate Trust company understands the importance of pushing forward with redevelopment of the 200-plus acre site.

"They totally get it," Johnson blogged. "Inland told me they believe the project is one of the most significant infill opportunities in the U.S."

Johnson said he and Inland executives agree on basic upfront tasks including moving the rail tracks slightly north to open the site for redevelopment.
