The downtown Sacramento rail yard has a new owner - Inland American Real Estate of Illinois.
The massive national investor and lender finalized a months-long foreclosure proceeding today by taking control of the 200-plus acre redevelopment site at an afternoon auction on the county courthouse steps.
Inland was the sole bidder for the land that had been owned for the last five years by Atlanta-based developer Thomas Enterprises.
Inland immediately issued a brief written statement: "We look forward to working with the community to redevelop this important part of the city."
