Last Thursday night, I was able to attend the graduation of the Sacramento Police Academy. And I had some good news to share: Sacramento will be hiring up to 11 new police to help keep our community safe. Working with City Manager Ray Kerridge and Police Chief Braziel, we were able to free funds from the police budget for the hirings. Both the Chief and the City Manager should be commended for working with me to make this move.
As you know, putting more cops on the beat was one of my top priorities as a candidate. I am hopeful this is just the start of a trend to put Sacramento on par to what other cities our size have in the way of police protection.
I salute the brave men and women who put their lives on the line for us every day. I am thankful these newly-trained recruits will be out there to join them.
