Yesterday, I joined a diverse coalition of over 60 leaders in announcing support for three exceptional school board candidates:

• Paige Powell in Area 1 (Land Park, Curtis Park and central city);
  
  
• Andie Corso in Area 2 (East Sacramento, Tahoe Park, Elmurst, Boulevard Park, River Park and parts of College Glen and Midtown); and
  
  
• Shane Singh in Area 6 (Pocket and Greenhaven).

As I’ve said countless times, we cannot have a great city without great schools.  Education must be a top priority for each and every citizen.

That’s why over 60 leaders came together yesterday in support of Paige, Andie and Shane.  These leaders come from all walks of life. They encompass all ages, faiths, and ethnicities. They represent, business, labor and neighborhood perspectives. They are Democrats, Independents and Republicans. They include prominent elected officials, and concerned everyday citizens.

Most of all, they recognize the crisis in our classrooms, and are united behind real leaders pushing real reform.

Paige, Andie and Shane are what we need to transform our schools. But they need your help.

The stakes are high this November 2. On behalf of our children, let’s put Paige, Andie and Shane over the top.

  Until you start teling parents they have a responsibility to their kids any educational reforms will fail. I was hoping for more from Kevin Johnson. But he is a politician,not a leader.

  Puppet school board is what you are looking for, isn't it? Good luck in your re-election bid, hopefully Sacramento will get it right this year and vote against you.
