By Kevin Johnson
Mayor of Sacramento
In June, Sacramento voters took big steps toward rejecting business as usual and demanding accountability. The march continues November 2.
Then as now, I encourage voters to send a loud message to political leaders: The status quo, which puts its own special interest ahead of the city’s health, must be challenged.
My endorsements for the November general election focus on candidates with the vision, energy and independence to move Sacramento forward.
Voters must make a clear statement: it’s time for new ideas and real leadership in Sacramento.
Today’s endorsements are for federal, state and local offices. Next week, I will make special endorsements for candidates for the Sacramento City Unified School District board races.
The school board requires special attention because the stakes are so high. Our city schools are failing the majority of our children. The board needs new direction. And there are major differences among the candidates.
