There is no Sac City ZIP code where more than two thirds of third-graders can read at grade level.
Those numbers are terrifying.
We are creating a generation of children whose adult lives will be severely impacted, and wrecking our city's ability to compete in the future.
And we must confront a call that is being heard by many families in Sacramento:
With neighboring school districts out-performing Sac City, families who place high value on their children’s education are taking long, hard looks at enrollment in those districts.
Who can blame them?

As a city we have two choices: ignore the consequences of failure, or become part of the solution.
