One of my favorite things about being a candidate for mayor is being able to meet so many people of our great city. I truly believe that our city’s diversity is it strength, and I’m reminded about that every day on the campaign trail.

This weekend marked another opportunity for me to visit families from one end of the city to the other.

On Saturday, I started my day at the Sacramento Firefighter’s 19th Annual Memorial at the Old City Cemetery before heading to the First Five Children’s Celebration at Fairytale Town in William Land Park, then to the Church Unity Fall Festival, the Senior Citizen Art Show reception at the Macleod Art Center, before spending time with more than 2,000 members of the Sikh community at the World Interfaith Peace March at the Capitol.

Later that day, I stopped by the City of Sacramento Police Department’s 1st Annual COPS and Community Festival on Marysville Boulevard, said hi to kids and their parents at the SacTown Clown Parade, and then headed to join in the excitement of Second Saturday.

(Note to Charles Barkley: Sacramento is NOT boring!).

On Sunday, I made my weekly morning visit to the Sacramento Farmer’s Market under the freeway near Southside Park (where we have a volunteer table), shook hands along the route of the Hispanic Parade on 12th Avenue, and then headed to the North Natomas Community Harvest Festival.

If you were one of the voters I met, thank you for your kind reception and your support. If not, look for me next weekend, when I’ll be pounding the pavement again.
